It was originally operated vertically as a downpipe furnace. A horizon-wide use is of course also possible. The structure is clear: It is a nearly 6m long truss-like frame, on which six oven case elements are attached. These are hinged and inside runs the almost 6m long pipe made of Kanthal APM. Each furnace element has two thermocouples type S (platinum/rhodium). Kanthal APM is very resistant to oxidizing atmospheres.
