Function of the pre-gripper
The pre-gripper takes the sheet from the front marks and transports it precisely to the first printing cylinder.
Its tasks are:
Secure detection of the sheet
After the sheet has been aligned with the front marks, the pre-gripper grips the leading edge of the sheet.
Exact handover
The sheet is transferred to the grippers of the printing cylinder with high accuracy.
This maintains the register accuracy.
Prevention of double arc or skew
The pre-gripper ensures that the bow does not slip during acceleration.
Incorrect handovers lead to registration problems and waste.
Synchronization with the printing unit
The opening and closing times of the pre-grippers must match the printing cylinder exactly.
Even small deviations can cause register errors.
