OVERVIEW
AJAM Group EU is offering four complete, used GE PG9161E gas turbine and generator packages, identified as GT31, GT32, GT41 and GT42. Each package is a matched set comprising a GE Frame 9 gas turbine, a GE hydrogen-cooled generator, and the corresponding factory accessory compartment, making all four units ready to be assessed, removed, and redeployed as complete rotating equipment trains rather than as separate components. The four units share an identical technical platform and performance envelope, having been engineered, installed, and operated as part of the same power generation scheme, and are being offered together as a single package of four or individually, subject to inspection.
All four turbines were originally synchronized to the grid in 1990 and subsequently uprated, in two blocks between 2004 and 2006, from the original PG9161E rating to the higher PG9171EA performance level. This uprate program improved output and efficiency while retaining the proven Frame 9 / MS9001E mechanical architecture, so the units combine three and a half decades of documented service history with a mid-life performance upgrade already carried out.
GAS TURBINE DESIGN
Each unit is built around the GE MS9001E platform, badged PG9161E, a heavy-duty single-shaft industrial gas turbine running at a nominal speed of 3,000 revolutions per minute at 50 hertz. The compressor section is a seventeen-stage axial-flow design paired with a three-stage axial turbine section, an arrangement chosen throughout the Frame 9E family for its robustness and tolerance of both continuous base-load duty and more frequent start-stop peaking service. In simple-cycle configuration the design basis for the platform is a base output of approximately 116.4 megawatts on natural gas with a lower heating value heat rate of about 10,880 kilojoules per kilowatt-hour, while the four units on offer are individually rated at approximately 103.7 megawatts of base output per unit on natural gas as installed.
The turbine is dual-fuel capable, able to run on natural gas as the primary fuel with liquid distillate as a backup or alternate fuel, giving an operator flexibility where gas supply is interruptible or where a liquid-fuel reserve is a grid or regulatory requirement. The single-shaft configuration and the platform's long production history mean spare parts, field service expertise, and overhaul exchange programs are widely available in the market, which supports both continued operation and, where preferred, use of the units as a source of spares.
GENERATOR
Each gas turbine drives a GE-manufactured, hydrogen-cooled synchronous generator rated at 128,600 kVA, 11.5 kilovolts, 50 hertz. Hydrogen cooling is the traditional choice for machines of this rating because it removes heat far more effectively than air, allowing a higher continuous output from a given frame size while keeping windage losses low; it also implies that, as part of any relocation and recommissioning scope, the hydrogen cooling and seal-oil auxiliary systems will need to be inspected, serviced, and requalified by a qualified generator specialist prior to re-synchronization.
